Biography
Director of the Orthodox Academy of Crete
Born in 1959, in Larisa. He was awarded degrees in Political Sciences (Strasbourg 1981), Sociology (Catholic Institute and Sorbonne, Paris 1987 and Theology (Saint Serges Institute, Paris, 1987). His undergraduate and post-graduate studies were in the Sociology of Christianity and in Pastoral Sociology. After this he pursued post-graduate studies in the Department of Ethics and Sociology at the Theological School of Thessaloniki, where, in 1996, he was awarded his Ph.D., summa cum laude.
He worked as scientific collaborator of the Orthodox Academy of Crete from 1988 till 1999, contributing to the work of the Church with research into theological, social and other ecclesiastical issues, and into the development of educational and training activities, the preparation and running of conferences and various kinds of inter-Orthodox and inter-Church conventions. He has taken an active part, with papers and interventions, in the progress of the European Union, through the various Committees of the Council of European Churches, as well as the Council of Europe. He has served on the Permanent Greek Mission to the European Union in Brussels on educational and ecclesiastical matters.
