Jarosław (Jarek) Charkiewicz

JaroslawCharkiewicz, born in 1964 in Bialystok (Poland). Doctorate on Orthodox Dogmatic Theology, graduate of Law Faculty as well as Russian Language and Language Faculty.

Former Vice-President (1989-1990) and Chairman (1991-1994) of the Fellowship of Orthodox Youth in Poland. Co-founder of two most popular Orthodox sites in Poland: www.cerkiew.pl and www.orthphoto.net.

Currently the secretary of the Publishing Department of Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church. Editor, translator, journalist, photographer, author of many articles, reviews and books, mainly in the field of Orthodox hagiology, hagiography and iconography as well as contemporary history of Orthodoxy in Poland. Main books: “The Fellowship of Orthodox Youth in Poland. 1980-1994”, “The saints of the Orthodox Church”, “Saint Nectarios of Aegina”, “Saints of the Belorussian Land”, “Martyrs of the XX century”, “Thou you, rejoice whole world. The icons of the Mother of God”, „The iconography of Saint in the Orthodox Church”, “The Georgian saints”, “The Great Church Feasts”, “The canonization of Saints in the Orthodox Church”. Main translations: Fr. Alexander Schmemann “The Credo”, Bishop Hilarion Alfeyev “The Mystery of Faith”.
