Biography
His Eminence Metropolitan Pavlos (Tsaousoglou) of Glyfada was born in Ermoupoli, Syros, in 1943. He was ordained deacon in 1966 and priest in 1969. Graduate of the University of Athens, School of Theology and the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He then completed post-graduate studies in Sociology and Psychology in the U.S.A. He served the Holy Metropolis of Nikopolis – Preveza and Nikaia, the Pan-Hellenic Holy Foundation of the Evangelistria of Tinos and the Holy Archdiocese of Athens for 36 years as Preacher. He worked in a variety of capacities in prisons for 25 years and has participated in several European and international Conferences on prisons, as representative of the Church of Greece. At the same time, he has been very active in missionary work in Africa (48 missions). He taught Religious Studies and was the Director of the boarding school at the Higher Ecclesiastical School of Athens. He has been the Abbot of the Monastery of the Bodiless Powers in Petrakis since 1999. On 11 October 2002, he was elected to be the first Metropolitan of the Holy Metropolis of Glyfada (consecrated on 14 October and enthroned on 1 December 2002).
