Protopresbyter Nicolae Dascălu
Biography
Father Nicolae Dascalu (born 1957) is coordinating counselor for the Department of Communications and Public Relations of the Romanian Patriarchate and Director General of Basilica Press Center in Bucharest (radio, TV station, newspaper, news agency and Press Office).
He studied theology, mathematics and informatics in Romania and in Switzerland. PhD in Theology at the University of Iasi, he has published over 100 articles in different newspapers and he is author of the books: Communication for Communion: an Orthodox perspective on mass media (Trinitas, Iasi: 2000) and The parable of the lighted Lamp: religious communication in the information era (Basilica, Bucharest: 2012).
As an Orthodox priest, combines pastoral activity with the use of new media in the Church’s mission. He participated in many conferences and seminaries about religion and communication and is working as associate professor of the Faculty of Theology of Bucharest.
